What is SkillsFuture?

SkillsFuture is a national movement to provide Singaporeans with the opportunities to develop their fullest potential throughout life, regardless of their starting points.

Given the rapidly changing demands of the market today, the workplace must be a major site of learning, where every worker in Singapore is able to continue to develop themselves throughout the course of their careers and through life.

SIM Professional Development Enterprise Learning (SIM PDEL) offers a choice of executive programmes and Business Insights events that is supported by several funding schemes - making learning and staying relevant, easier than ever.

SkillsFuture Singapore Funding

Funding is available for employer sponsored and self-sponsored registration. Eligible for up to 90%* funding with Terms & Conditions met, refer here.

Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) is a training benefit for NTUC members to defray their cost of training. NTUC members enjoy 50% unfunded course fee support for up to $250 each year when you sign up for courses supported under UTAP.

SkillsFuture Credit

SkillsFuture Credit aims to encourage individuals to take ownership of their skills development and lifelong learning. All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. All eligible Singaporeans will be able to access their SkillsFuture Credit account via www.skillsfuture.sg/credit

Funding FAQs

Am I eligible for funding?
  • Must be Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident of Singapore
  • Achieve a minimum of 75% programme attendance
  • Participants must achieve a "Competent" status at the end of the programme
  • Participants agree with SIM Professional Development Enterprise Learning to jointly track training outcomes in evaluating the effectiveness of the programmes
What is the NETT fee after funding?

What is the registration process for the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) funded programmes?
  1. Register with SIM Professional Development Enterprise Learning for your selected course
    • Select your choice of programme from the List of Programmes and Submit your contact details.
    • Email us at funded-prog@sim.edu.sg or
    • Call us at 6248 9419 or 6248 9447
  2. Login to SkillsConnect to Submit Training Grant Application & Absentee Payroll online.
  3. SIM endorses on the Approved Training Grant when approved by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
  4. Tax invoice will be delivered within 2 weeks to your company based on Nett Fee after approved funding or based on Full Course Fee, whichever is applicable.
  5. Participant attends the programme with minimum attendance of 75% of course duration and successfully completes the assessment.

Note that registration is subject to availability of seats and on first-come-first-serve basis.

If my employee (participant) does not complete the full course and complete the assessment, will the training grant be approved?

The SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) training grant will not be claimable by participant/employer if he/she does not achieve 75% minimum attendance over the course duration or complete the assessment. SIM will then issue a new invoice with the full fee and cancel the first invoice.

Is my organisation eligible for absentee payroll funding?

How do I know if my company is an SME?
  • Minimum 30% local shareholding AND
  • Company’s group annual sales turnover of not more than S$100 million OR Company’s group employment size of not more than 200 workers.

What certificates will I be awarded with upon completion of the programme?
  • A copy of SIM Professional Development Enterprise Learning Certificate of Participation
  • A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded to programme participants by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) upon successful completion of the programme with at least 75% attendance and have achieved a "Competent" Status for assessments
What is the SkillsFuture Credit?

SkillsFuture Credit aims to encourage individual ownership of skills development and lifelong learning.
All Singapore Citizens aged 25 years old and above will receive an opening credit of S$500 from January 2016.
The Government will make periodic top-ups to Singapore Citizen’s SkillsFuture Credit Accounts.

Can I submit a claim without registering for a course?

No. Please register for a course with a training provider first before submitting a claim.
You will need your course details (e.g. course start date, course ID, training provider) before you can submit a claim.

How can I submit a claim to use my SkillsFuture Credit?

You can use your credit to pay for or offset the course fees of approved courses by applying through http://www.skillsfuture.sg/credit.

This SkillsFuture Credit Portal has been made available since January 2016. You can also check your credit balance and transactions via http://www.skillsfuture.sg/credit.

Please note that with effect from 19 May 2017, the default payment mode for all courses, except for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), is to pay the SkillsFuture Credit directly to Training Providers.

Under this payment mode, individuals are allowed to make claims up to 60 days before their start of the course till the day of course commencement with effect from 21 Apr 2017. This window period is sufficient for individuals to make their claims to facilitate earlier course registration.

When making claims, you should inform your Training Provider on:

  1. The intention to utilise your SkillsFuture Credit
  2. Request for the relevant amount to be offset against the qualifying course fees.

You must then submit the claim via the SkillsFuture Credit Portal to pay the relevant credit amount to the Training Provider for your registered course.

How can I check my SkillsFuture credit balance and transactions?

You can check your credit balance and transactions via www.skillsfuture.sg/credit.

When can I submit a claim to use my SkillsFuture Credit?

With effect from 19 May 2017, the default payment mode for all courses is for individuals to pay the SkillsFuture Credit directly to Training Providers within 60 days of the course start date (date inclusive).

Upon activation of your SkillsFuture Credit account, you can apply to use your credit to pay directly to the training provider by the course start date (date inclusive).

Before logging into your account, you will need to have your SingPass ID, password, name of training provider, course title and course start date.

If this is the first time that you are applying to use your credit, you will be prompted to update your information, including your bank account details under "MyProfile" in the SkillsFuture Credit Portal.

Do I have to submit supporting documents when I submit a claim? How do I know whether the supporting documents are sufficient?

You are required to submit supporting documents (detailing the course fee, government subsidy, receipt/net course fee payable (inclusive of GST) and applicants' name as per NRIC) at the point of claim submission at 'Submit a Claim' page (Proof of payment e.g. registration confirmation or acknowledgement slips, official receipts).

You may upload up to 10 documents with a maximum file size of 5MB per document. The supported file types are pdf, doc, xls, tif, jpg, png.

Please also ensure that you keep the relevant supporting documents for at least 6 months.

When can I cancel my SkillsFuture Credit claim submission?

You can only cancel your claim submission before the course start date.

Will I get a confirmation of my registration?

A Joining Instruction confirming your registration will be sent to you via email one (1) week before the commencement of the programme.

 

How do I make payment?
  • An electronic invoice will be emailed to you within 2 weeks upon confirmation of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)’s approval on your Training Grant Application OR 2 weeks prior to the programme commencement, whichever earlier.
  • All cheques/bank drafts must be made payable to 'Singapore Institute of Management Group Limited', crossed and marked 'A/C payee only' with the course title(s) and invoice no. indicated at the back of the cheques.
  • Upon receipt of payment, an official receipt will be issued to you. Please retain your official receipt.
Can I defer my programme after registration?
  • Request for deferment has to be submitted in writing 14 days prior to commencement of programme, after which 25% of course fee will be chargeable.If no notification is received by commencement date, the full programme fee will be charged
  • Deferment is allowed only once and has to be completed within 6 months from the first registered session.
Can I withdraw from the programme?
  • 100% refund for written notification 14 days before commencement.
  • 75% (based on full course fee) for written notification within 14 days before commencement.
  • No refund given for no show after commencement.
What is the policy for programme rescheduling and cancellation?

SIM Professional Development Enterprise Learning reserves the right to cancel/reschedule the programme due to unforeseen circumstances.
